CHIPPENDALE ®

(Tan97159)

Chippendale® was bred by Hans Jürgen Evers at Rosen Tantau, in Germany, in 2005 and was introduced onto the Australian market by Knight’s Roses in 2010.

Chippendale® is a very attractive, eye-catching rose, growing into a well-shaped, strong and robust bush, (1m x 1m), with healthy glossy foliage.  It is registered as a Shrub Rose but resembles the growth habit of a Floribunda with flowers produced in small clusters delivering masses of large blooms readily throughout the long growing season from spring to autumn. As the flower opens it reveals very fragrant quartered blooms featuring a strong, sweet, fruity perfume.

The colour of the blooms vary from rich dark apricot to orange peachy pink which gives this rose a unique look.  The cupped-shaped flowers (41+ petals) are old fashioned and quartered following the trend and nostalgic style created by European rose breeders from the 1990s onwards, including Rosen Tantau who bred this rose.

This rose is especially useful in a variety of landscaping situations – its excellent repeat flowering means it would look amazing in a hedge planting, in garden beds or it will perform well in a large container.

Available from Knights Roses, Newman’s Nursery and Wagner’s Rose Nursery.
