SUMMARY:People's Choice Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The National Rose Trial Garden of Australia Inc.\n People’s Choice weekend \,7th and 8th April 2018 \nThe Management Council of the National Rose Trial Garden of Australia has pleasure in inviting the public to participate in the Annual World Federation of Rose Societies People’s Choice Award. This event will be held on the weekend of Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of April 2018\, between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm. The National Rose Trial Garden is located within the International Rose Garden in the north eastern corner of the Adelaide Botanic Garden. The nearest entrances are via Hackney road or Plane Tree Drive. However\, entry via the Main Gate on North Terrace provides the opportunity to wander through the Botanic Garden\, past the Wetlands and Children’s Garden which are adjacent to the National Rose Trial Garden.\nThe People’s Choice event provides the opportunity for the public to participate in the choice of their favourite rose on trial. Roses from breeders local\, interstate and overseas are planted in the trial garden for a two year period where they are assessed over that period by a group of rose society and rose industry members. This year there are roses from the UK. Netherlands\, France\, Germany\, USA and also Australian bred planted within the trial garden.\nThe People’s Choice event is held at the completion of the second year’s assessment period. The roses are assessed over a two year period and at the end of this period awards are presented to the breeders/introducers at the Annual Awards Night held in Adelaide. As well as the Gold\, Silver\, Bronze and Certificate of Merit awards\, there is the very prestigious People’s Choice Award.\nThis is where we need your input. All we ask is that the public view the twenty plus cultivars (within the trial garden) nominated\, and from these choose their top five roses in order of preference.\nThe results of this event provide an excellent insight for the rose breeders/introducers\, rose growers and retailers as to the type of roses which are popular with the public. The roses currently on trial have the potential to be on sale to the public within the coming seasons.\nAs an incentive for the public to be involved in the People’s Choice 2018 event\, our sponsors will be donating a very worthwhile prize to the person selecting the most popular rose.\nWhy not take this opportunity to enjoy our Adelaide Botanic Garden\, not only the People’s Choice event but also the Diggers Heirloom Festival. \n
